Lucas Moench

Lucas Moench is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Investigations and Public Policy Practice Groups. He represents clients in complex commercial disputes and government investigations and advises clients on policy matters at both the state and federal levels.

Prior to attending law school, Lucas worked in the Wisconsin State Senate for nearly five years. He served as chief of staff and primary policy advisor to a state senator and later as budget director for the Senate chair of the state’s budget-writing committee. Lucas also worked extensively on both state and federal races for numerous Wisconsin political candidates.

The recently enacted Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (“CARES”) Act contains a little-known provision to protect inventors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  Section 12004 of the CARES Act grants the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) director the temporary authority to “toll, waive, adjust, or modify, any timing deadline”
